Gillespie Ford ripoff dishonest heartless bad business San Antonio Texas
My husband and I purchased a 2004 Ford F150 from Gillespie Ford. First of all, the purchase and all dealings with the dealership took forever! To replace the tires and have the vehicle cleaned, the next day, took 6 hours while my husband waited in the dealership. However, that's not the problem.
My husband and I were moving to Nellis AFB, NV the next day, and 4 hours into our drive the truck broke down. We were in the middle of nowhere in West Texas and it took a tow truck 4 hours to pick us up, and then we had to driven another 2 hours to the closest Ford dealership in Odessa, TX. The water pump had busted, damaging the fan and clutch, and a belt had to be replaced.
We contacted Gillespie Ford, and talked to Mike, and he apologized and said that it was too bad that we couldn't come back to San Antonio because he would make a good deal on a new vehicle. (Agreeing that if he were to have purchased a vehicle and it broke down four hours into the first long drive, he woudldn't want it.) We decided that we were willing to do that, but we asked him to fax us his "good deal." We were shocked when he offered us $16,000 for the truck when we had purchased it for over $20,000 two days prior! Once we called him and told him that we were offended, he just shut down and became rude...basically telling us to take our business elsewhere.
We sent in a family member, on our behalf, to talk numbers with him and he lied about what he spoke with us about, and then threatened to call my husband's commander if we didn't leave the dealership alone. DO NOT purchase a vehicle from this dealer...their prices are ridiculous and they have NO customer service.

I'm sorry you guys had such a bad experience but there's alot which can be learned from this.
At the start you noticed something wrong...they kept you waiting an unusual amount of time. If they valued you as a customer, that would NOT have happened! So my question is why did you accept that treatment? They need you....you don't need them. Next time any dealer does something like that, WALK OUT! You are under NO obligation to them!
Second, did you have this truck inspected by YOUR mechanic who YOU paid? If a dealer won't let you do that or comes back with something stupid like "You can use our mechanic" or "our mechanics have already checked it out!", the message they are sending you is "we think this customer is stupid...they are probably the typical doormats we see every day!".
Remember, don't put up with garbage treatment and never buy a used car without YOUR mechanic checking it out!
