On May 9, 2008 I recieved a call from this company whose representative refused to give his name or any other information about who was calling and about the debt they were trying to collect except that it was some kind of Pay Day Loan. I sent a certified letter to them disputeing the claim in it's entirety, made demand for proof of claim, and requsting all future communication must be in writing-no more phone calls, and citing the law that if they cannot legally valdiate this claim DELETE all information from credit buraeau files and notify me. I never heard anything from this company again until October 1, 2008 when NCC called me and said they sold the claim to them. I believe they have vilolated Federal Law by not responding to my Demand for Proof of Claim which if I understand stops all action until they respond to me and by not removing this from credit bureau files and then selling the debt to another company, NCC. What good are these Federal Laws if collection companies do not abide by them and when they violate the law the FTC can do nothing except take a report and advise you to seek legal advice. I have had similar problems with Full Circle Financial services, LLC,Takhar Collections Services, Cavalry Portfolio Services, and National Credit Adjusters. None of these companies have provided me with Proof of Claim or responded to my certified letters. According to Federal Law if they do not provide you with Proof of Calim they must delete all information from credit bureau reports and all action must cease. What can we do when they do not respond? If you call the FTC all they do is take a report and advise you to get a lawyer. Are we expected to pay for a lawyer to sue these companies when we had no debt in the first place? In the case of Glacial Star Group they go a step further and sell the debt to another collection agency which is suppose to be prohibited once you have requested Proof of Claim.
What can we do beside hireing a lawyer?

I reported this to the FTC on Oct 1, 2008 and was told to seek legal advice all they could do was take a report. So I guess unless you can afford a lawyer these comapnies will do whatever they want.
