Complaint Review: Glamour Shots

My sister recently had her photos taken at a (now closed) Galmour Shots studio in Illinois, for a birthday party with her friends. The pcitures looked good, and so I decided to give an anniversary gift of a session to my girlfriend.

When we got there, they were friendly and courteous; we filled out information (mailing address, etc) and also signed a form showing that we were there for the appointment. This also signified that we knew that we would be paying for our package and session in full before we left. (This was made clear to us on the phone after I set up the session as well.) That was fine.

There were no problems with the session itself. However, when it came time to pick our package, things turned sour quickly. With no information other than "Packages start at $39.95", I went in there with about $100 or so to spend. I wasn't expecting 10 sheets or 3 of each size or anything, but did expect at least a LITTLE something for my money. In total, $125 ended up garnering 1 8x10 sheet and 1 5x7 sheet, plus the bartering of the (normally $100) proof sheet. This sheet is required if you want to make ANY other photos beyond your original purchase The 'package' for $39.95 is a single sheet, without touchup, colorization, or proofs.

Had I known how much this was gonna cost, I would've gone elsewhere. The 'makeover' could've easily been done at home, and while a normal protrait studio probably owuld not have put the same level of concern into the shots, it was FAR from worth the price we ended up paying.
