Complaint Review: Glenn Neiderhiser

Do NOT hire Glenn Neiderhiser to do ANY remodeling work on your home! He is a lying cheat who will extend and drag out the project just so he can milk you for every penny you have. We learned the hard way by having this creep come in and work on a downstairs bathroom we had gutted.

This man is a Licensed Chiropracter-yeah-he is a doctor-and that was why I trusted him(shame on me!). We answered an ad he put in the Bloomsburg Press Enterprise for home improvement work. He came over and looked at the gutted bathroom. I explained that we just wanted him to install the pedestal sink, tub and toilet and that we would do the rest ourselves. He quoted me 22.00 per hour and said it all looked to be a fairly easy job. So he shows up the first day(late of course)and waffles around doing a little bit of everything and accomplishing nothing.

Then he calls me a few days later and said that if we would choose our floor material-he would lay that down for us and install everything right on top and it would cut the time in half. Great-so we went and bought some vinyl. It sat for a month. He decides to tear out a wall-shows me where it was rotted and says he will put up a piece of drywall. Since we already had purchased greenboard I said Ok, go ahead. Then he disappears for about 1 week-we hear nothing from him. When he comes back-he decides to tear up the floor-first he begins to tear it up-then he tells me about it-so there I am with no bathroom floor and a clear view of the crawlspace below-I have no choice but to let him install a new subfloor. In the process-he tears out a wall that had a cabinet that I had told him we were going to leave alone.

Oh well, it is gone-he said he is going to build shelves because we will be much happier with it. Uh....ok, this project is getting drawn out way beyond what it had intended to be-and he is taking it upon himself to purchase items without talking to us first.

He drills the holes for the pipes that will connect the pedestal sink directly THROUGH a floor joist in the crawlspace.(this we did not find out about until we had dismissed him.) He also installed a new switchplate for the light bar above the mirror-he said he was going to put it off to the side-but instead he put it right in the middle of the wall-above the sink-where the bathroom mirror is going to go. When I question him about it-on the day we told him we decided to finish the project on our own-his only answer is "oh well."

I could not pursue this man because he is not a licensed contractor-he is a Doctor who claims to have owned an apartment building and have extensive remodeling knowledge. The day we dismissed him-he showed up on a Thursday to collect his things-for a man who could never make it on time to complete the work we had hired him to do-he sure made it on time to get his tools and collect his pay.

He handed us a bill with inflated hours and inflated product costs. Because I was home alone-I paid him just to get rid of him-my mistake. He ran to the bank and cashed the check that day-so I could not even stop payment on it. I know the error I made in hiring an unlicensed person. I am not here to say "poor me, I didn't know..."

I am here to forwarn ANYONE in the Bloomsburg, Danville, Berwick, Shickshinny areas of Pennsylvania to NOT HIRE THIS MAN! He will cheat you and rip you off. He will milk you for every penny he can get out of you-I stopped him before I was writing him a check in the thousands. He will take advantage of you and he will turn your small project into a very big one so that he can extract more money out of you. GLENN NEIDERHISER IS A LYING,CHEATING SNAKE!
