Today I received a letter in the mail from Global Financial Claim Services. It basically said that I was the 3rd GRAND PRIZE WINNER for the National Geographic Sweepstakes and I have won 100,000.00 Also enclosed was a check for the amount of $3085.00. It also said that I had to call to find out Instructions.

I called the number and a man named John Stevens told me that the check was for insurance, handling, duty and tax fees that I had pay to recieve the 100,000.00 and that I had to deposit it in my bank account. When it clears, I am supposed to withdrawal $3050.00 and call him back so that he can give me info on which financial institution to take the money to pay the fees. I did some research and this is a big SCAM!

What happens is you deposit the check, it clears, you take out the money and send it to god knows who, and then the check is returned and you owe your bank alot of money. The check looked legit so I called the bank where the check was supposedly from (Independent Bank) to verify funds and they told me there was no such account number. The check even had a WATERMARK! GO FIGURE! The man even had the nerve to tell me that the extra $35.00 was for traveling expenses such as a cab fare or for gas!

So, DON'T FALL PREY TO THIS! One more thing, the stamp on the envelope was from CANADA!
