I got a letter in the mail - it looked like junk mail and I would have trashed it but had already locked my door to go to work so I took it with me and read it on the bus. It said I had won $120,000.00 from Global-Link Lotto and there was a check for $1,998.00 enclosed, to help pay for "all tax and service charges regarding my winnings." I did a web search and was told it was a total scam and if I tried to even cash the nearly $2,000.00 check it would bounce and I would be held liable. I thought this had SCAM written all over it - it was from an Amsterdam lottery that I had not taken part in, the number they wanted me to call, 1-600-338-7092, had a Canadian area code, and the bank the check came from was from Wausau Wisconsin. Call me skeptical, but I think it's very fishy. I didn't make the call to Canada because international calls are expensive and I live alone and make little money. I usually trust my feelings, and you don't get something for nothing. And from what others have said at sites about this one, I wouldn't dare try to cash the check or play this game. I don't know how they got my name and address - sometimes I enter contests or play free lottos. I am reporting this because I am a CNA at an assisted living facility and I wonder about people who do not have all their mental faculties might respond to such a letter and check.
