Complaint Review: Global Resort Condos Plus

Unfortunately my husband and I fell prey to a rather common scam going around.  We have our timeshare in FL up for sale and have gotten many calls offering to sell it for us. 

The most recent call came from a company called Resort Condos Plus.  Mr William Sanders assured me it was not a scam and that he had a buyer ready to go on the property.  I questioned him several times about sending in money upfront as I was leary of that kind of transaction.  Over and over he told me that the property was sold and that if it wasn't a sure sale they would not be asking for money.  I stupidly agreed to authorize a transaction on my credit card and faxed it in to him and the home office to Erica Matthews because they could not proceed without that authorization. 

What I sent in was actually a sales and advertising agreement!  I have made several calls to their office and was assured each time that the sale was moving forward.  In November a Lisa said it was in the works.  In December Kate said that it was closing on January 4, 2010 and I would receive papers in the mail and a check soon after.  I was concerned that we hadn't paid our maintenance fees and she said not to pay them as the new owners would be paying for them.

I called Orange Lake Resort and they have not received any inquiries from Resort Condos Plus.  What a surprise!!  I have talked to Ben Palmer at the home office and he has been rude and unwilling to help other than to say that the office with the above named people no longer work for their company. 

Please don't let this happen to you!!  We have no recourse because their misleading sales pitch and I hope someone else will learn from our mistake.  Do not deal with this company or any other resort sales company that makes these kinds of promises.
