My company started to do some business with Global Savings and Loan, LP a while back. At first it seemed very legitimate because it was headed by a friend of a business contact I had that I trusted. I met with the CEO Carmen Vega Torres and the VP Franz Streinesberger about a loan that my company needed. It was a small place off of John Young, nothing fancy and a few empty offices.
They both seemed very engaging, personable, and inviting. They even had a website for their business www.myglobalsavings.com that looked very legitimate. Although the website had no information on Carmen or exactly what they did. Through talking with Carmen, I even learned that they were currently investing some money in Gold which my company was interested in but I wasn't aware that this establishment was the type to trade. Either way I went along with it. They apparently had very secure software for banking that I later found out was sourced from somewhere in the caymans.
Another red flag came by when they had their business and laws all coming from New Zealand. I asked why she just didn't do business there and she said that she wasn't allowed to, which was weird. Also, they only seemed to have the location in Orlando. I researched the business license in New Zealand and DID find it there but couldn't find a building with employees or someone in New Zealand that I could speak to. When I called the 800 number 1-888-795-5471, they were desperately trying to reconnect me to the "office" in Orlando.
Yet another red flag came when I learned that Carmen was also the head of Centaurus International Business Trust, which was closely linked and used as an insurance for Global Savings and Loan, LP. The website to that is www.centaurusinternationalbusinesstrust.com This is a very different website from the Global one, and apparently just constructed through one of those "Do it yourself" website builders Vistaprint.
I kept searching and also found www.globalsavingsandloanltd.com yet another VERY vague website, also constructed through VistaPrint and all about a referral program which I learned that if you wanted to be a part of that, you would first need to open an account with Global.
Basically my company -before we knew of all of this- went into business with Global and there was always a constant lag for needed information. If my company needed one type of paper, Carmen wouldn't have it but would instead have a different paper that somewhat fulfilled what we needed. Same with the gold contract. At one point we basically needed proof of the amount of money she had and she wanted to provide us with something different. This went on for a month or so and my company just had it. Luckily we had not signed any iron-clad contract and were able to get out of doing business with them.
If you do happen to get into any ventures with them I suggest you do your homework. This online "Bank" doesn't look like it has any experience and worst of all the funding for it to be a functioning business.
