Global Tel Link Take advantage and hold us hostage Mobile Alabama
My fiance', nephew, and sister-in-law are incarcerated in Ohio. The only way to speak with them is to have an account with Global Tel Link. I already had my account when they took over from MCI on 7-18-2007, so I did not need to go through the hassle of setting one up with them.
My account is one that has a limit of $100. As of today I have a balance of $90. I also have a credit of $150 from overpaying and it building up. I called today and when I finally did get through after a 65 minute hold time, they told me that was not to be used for middle of the month payments.
When I do call, the operators that I get are rude, will hang up on you, and lack basic English skills. They will also yell at you when you repeatedly ask them to repeat themselves because you can't understand them. If you ask to be transferred, the call is "lost" and you must call back and wait another hour on hold to be put through this again.
This morning I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. I have also encouraged several of my friends to do the same, as they are experiencing the same treatment that I am.
They act as though our loved one's are dirt. They are our family and just because they did a bad thing does not make them a terrible person. They need to speak to us and when we are blocked for no apparent reason, we all get frustrated.
The blocks are put up when there is no reason whatsoever to be blocked. You can still have money in your account, or not reach your balance cap yet and find your line blocked. When you get through to someone you are told that the block should be removed by midnight. Most of the time it takes 3-5 days.
They have no place to send suggestions to, just a PO Box for complaints. No e-mail or phone.
