Complaint Review: Global Trade Base Inc.

Global Trade Base, Inc. What a total Scam Internet

I just felt compelled to throw in my observations about this rip off of an operation from the employees point of view.  I was smart enough not to get sucked into this scam too deep and luckily only wasted three weeks at this place before I bailed.   I never did feel comfortable that I would be paid anything if I made a sale.  I will point out that my job there was not to sucker clients into giving the company fees to take their products overseas, but instead to line up buyers to buy their products with the all important Global Trade Base 25% markup.     In the time that I was there, albeit short, there were no sales and I saw 6 people pass through this scam of a company.   When I left there were only 3 people remaining:  Patrick (the owner), EJ (the president) and Mariel (the worker)

I agree with previous posters observations about the owner Patrick Donnell.  He is a scared little man who blankets his insecurities behind a wall of  pompous overbearing ego.  He acts so superior and pretends to hold himself above all of the "peons" who work for him and never misses an opportunity to show his superior intellect.  The funny thing is he is rarely correct with his statements, but he will fight to the bitter end and when all is lost he will dismiss you "because no one cares anyway".

For anyone who happens to stumble on to this company and is offered a position just beware that you will get screwed by these guys.  You are required to work a specific set of hours, but you are commission only.  You are also "encouraged" to work extra, but remember you are not getting paid one thin dime by these scamsters.

Owner of Global Trade Base?

#3UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, June 07, 2010

If you are the owner of Global Trade Base then you are breaking your parole by being on the internet.  I doubt very seriously that the owner, Patrick Blake Donnell wrote this but either way it is wrong.  The previous ex-employee was right on the money.  The company is a scam and the business model is seriously flawed.  They are not selling any significant volume overseas.  ALL business reterick is smoke and mirrors.  FACTS: Patrick is a 2 time convicted felon.  Patrick is not concerned about the companies that have forked over thousands for very poor representation.  Patrick does not care how many employees go through his system, new blood usually sells more than the ones who have caught on to his scam.  If you decide to invest money with this company or to go to work for them you will eventually regret it.

Management Response

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, May 06, 2010

Thank you for the opportunity to address concerns identified by this exemployee.

It is unfortunate that this employment position did not work out.  It would be inappropriate to identify specific details of performance that led to this employment termination in the third week of a 90 day evaluation period for new hires.  It is best to say that this individual simply is not eligible for rehire.

The position identified by this exemployee  is compensated by commission, performance incentives, bonus structure and profit sharing.  It is a W-2 (employee) position and not a 1099 (independent contractor) position.  The work hours for this position are M-F 08:00 am to 5:00 pm.  There are some times when odd hours are needed as a result of dealing in different time zones internationally.  This exemployee accepted the position with these conditions.

Our company, industry and business practices are not a scam.  We have high integrity standards to job performance and client representation.  Misleading or lying is an offense that results in immediate termination.  We adhere strictly to all of our contracts and agreements.

It is also important to identify some of the nuances of the distribution process within the food industry as they seem to be in question in this report. A manufacturer will have a profit margin for products they produce. There are multiple distribution channels that can be utilized such as brokers, manufacturer's representatives, sales & marketing agencies, etc. Each of these will have a markup % or margin % equal to 5% to 30%. We also have a markup percent (but it is not 25%.) The end retailer of these products will also have a profit margin as well.

All earned commissions, bonuses and additional incentive payouts have been paid.  It is a simple audit process to track transactions and the related payments to employees.

No new-hire sales trainees are involved in the ongoing company sales and transactions other than their own.  This individual was not physically in a position to observe active business.

All companies and employers recognize the emotional reactions a terminated employee can have which result in a need to justify the involuntary work separation.  However, this exemployee interacted with the company owner for less than 1% of the workday and predominately for training or instructional activities.

We encourage individuals to feel free in contacting us directly to discuss any questions or concerns that may arise as a result of unvalidated internet blog postings.
