Complaint Review: Global Travel

I received this letter in the mail, inviting me to a 90 minute presentation was told would receive free, no money out of my pocket per the person setting up my reservation, airline tickets valued up to $1400. I knew I would have to endure the high pressure sales pitch.  I had also asked for the companies name so I could do research prior to attending but they would not give me that.   The pitch was for me to   pay 10% of $11,995 down that night and one time processing fee of $ 199 also $385 at time of reservation for to become a member of their "service". The pitch ran long and went on and on.  When asked tough questions about why they don’t provide information up front they did not provide a direct answer. When the presentation was over they had sales reps call each person into this other room, I knew this was when the high pressure would begin and it did.  I seemed so false and fake like it was all pre planned.   I think one person in the 2hours I was in this room signed up and I think that was arranged to try and get other people interested.  I kept saying I was not interested and all they did was brought other sales people over to try and sell.  At one point they kept insisting I tell them where I worked so they might be able to set up a corporate discount.  I told them I would not tell them because of the nature of my business.  They kept on asking to a point I said "you ask me one more time and I am calling the cops!  I would like to leave so please give me my certificates for the airfare and I will be on my way."  That is when I was escorted out a back door and on the way I was handed a brochure.  The sales person told me follow the directions and I will get my certificates. I think I still have the fingerprints in my back from the sales person pushing me out the door.  The breeze of the door shutting can still be felt in the Albany area that is how fast it was closed and there was no reentry.

This is when it gets good.  The brochure tells you all the fine details about the Hidden cost, taxes, booking fees, surcharges, and so on.  The brochure doesn't tell you how much, if they will be cost to you or not.  The brochure didn't tell anything.  All it said was send in a money order for $4.95 and more info will be sent to you.  

This is when another company gets involved.  This company is one which Global Travel MAKES A DEAL FOR REDUCED TRAVEL TICKETS.  Not free, reduced.  This company can't tell you anymore unless you pay $50 an air ticket non refundable. They can't and won’t tell you if you will have surcharges, what airport charges will be, what airports have no surcharges, and on and on.  I chose not to participate because the savings was no savings because Albany airport is not on their list.

The funny thing is Global Travel sent me another invitation.  I called and asked more questions pertaining to what they were about, would there be any out of pocket cost for the airline tickets and so on to see if their answers were the same.  They were and when I called their bluff, the person on the phone states "did you pay anything out of pocket the night of the seminar? So we are not lying!"
