Complaint Review: global vacation network

my wife and I went to Global's presentation.  We became interested in what they were offering.  They asked us about any destinations that we would like to travel to.  We also expressed interest in their so-called weekend packages in the United States.  We gave them several suggestions on various destinations.  Problem being.......any city we were interested in....did not have a condo owned by Global.  We discussed going to Boston for a weekend getaway (which is part of the package) and they assured us that they had several options available. 

They told us that in order for us to access this information, we would have to wait a few days to get our membership info sent to us via email.  After a week....we received this info.  When we looked into Boston options...the nearest location they have available was a 3 hour drive away.  I checked other locations only to find the same results.  I tried to contact Global many times in the next week. 

Finally got a call back.  We made a down payment of $352.00.  I told them that I would like to cancel our membership immediately.  They told me that I had to do that within 48 hours.  They said it was in the contract.  Problem being....I had to have my membership number in order to do so....which was given to me after the 48 hour grace period.  We have never used their services.  This happened 2 years ago.  I have been given several numbers of people to contact within their organization....all tell me the same thing...."tough luck.. we want our $3500.00 balance".  This still appears on our credit reports today.
