Global Warranty Group, LLC Wireless Protection Program, GWG Unauthorized Credit Card Charges St. James, New York
Global Warranty Group LLC.group aka Wireless Protection Program is a dishonest company that charges credit cards without authorization! They try to keep their policies and the insurance agreement from the customers that are paying for services. My husband signed up with them because the sales person at a third party Verizon Wireless store told him that they were better than our current wireless insurance provider. Although the cell phone account was in my name, they allowed my husband to add the insurance to the cell phone numbers on my account under his name. That did not seem right. I called the company to request a copy of the insurance policy, and they said they would send it. I never received it. I called back and requested it two more times before they sent the 1 page policy in the mail. Several weeks later one of our cell phones was stolen while we were out at a restaurant bar. We filed a police report and a claim with Global Warranty Group. Global Warranty Group/Wireless Protection told us that we could not file the claim until it was exactly 30 days or more since we added the insurance. We said fine. We waited the extra days and filed when we could. We paid the deductible and they sent the phone replacement. In December after being a customer for years, we decided to switch our cell phone provider because of their steadily increasing fees. I notified Wireless Protection Program on Dec 17,2011 that I no longer had service with my previous cell phone provider and the equipment (cell phone) that I had insured under their company was no longer in my possession either. I called the customer service number and informed them that I wanted to cancel. They charged another credit card that was not set up for automatic payment, but they had the information from a one time monthly coverage payment. After complaining to several customer service reps I requested to cancel my policy. They told me I must notify them in writing via e-mail of
my request to cancel, and that it would be honored within 24 hours of
receiving the notification. On Dec 17 I e-mailed the request to cancel as well as opt out of their information sharing, and requested written notification of the changes to be sent to me. I received nothing. They
have attempted to charge my credit card several times with several different amounts since
then. I spoke with several associates, they told me I would no longer be charged for the monthly premium. On January 1, 2012 I then got another e-mail from them saying my policy was cancelled. They tried to charge my credit card for $35 as a "policy cancellation fee."
