Company apparently shut down without notice on about 10/15. We had done business with them for many years. Account was current. It turned out that they probably owed their underlying long distance carrier, Qwest, a lot of money and Qwest cut them off.

I was traveling at the time they cut off service. I didn't realize that service was cut off for about 24 hours when I realized i hadn't received any calls. It turned out that lines at our other locations were cut off by Qwest from processing LD calls as well. A call to Globalinx got a recording stating "...we can no longer provide our customers with service."

I had to quickly transfer our several lines in northern Ca. and a line in LA to another carrier. A line in Md. was transferred altho it never was cut off from LD. It turned out later that calls made from 10/14 to 10/19 on that line were billed by something called "Capsule Communications" - not Globalinx. A bill came in From Capsule in the beginnning of Oct. On about 10/18 and 10/19 I switched all lines to IDT.

My new carrier says Globalinx is refusing to release our 800 numbers(2 of them) until the last bill is paid. I am afraid that paying that bill may be money down the drain since Qwest may really control those numbers. I offered to waive a claim for damages for having our LD service cut off, and for the hassle i had to quickly go through to change service. I did ask that they pay the approx. $45 in charges imposed by the phone companies in changing carriers.

I have not heard from Globalinx in repsonse to emails i sent them. I would probably pay everything they asked just to get my 800 numbers up and working again. (They had cut those off w.o. notice as well.) I would want to pay the money to a neutral party pending release of the 800 numbers.
