I have a 2001 Malibu that I purchased just over a year ago. It has been in the shop approximately 13 times.

The first time it was in was for a knocking in the engine. They found debri in the lower engine. The engine was replaced.

Next time it went in for the blinkers not working, they just decided to quit one day. At this time, they replaced the multi-function switch.

Next time it went in for the windshield wipers not working. Like the blinkers, they just decided to quit. This time they changed the Hasmat switch.

We have also had the A/C switch changed, since it quit working and the radio has been changed out 3 times.

The car was shocking us when we would get out of it, but not when we would get in. They claim it is the result of static electricity. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

We have had the car in several more times for the "engine knock", which I guess was an option that they gave me free of charge. According to the GM dealer, this knock is perfectly normal.

The real clencher was when we set up an arbitration meeting between us and GM. The arbitrator was provided by the BBB of Florida. We were very nieve and not very well informed by the BBB. They did not tell us when we agreed to the mediation that the mediator wasn't even familiar with how to change the tire on a vehicle, let alone know if the engine was "knocking". The GM rep that was on the phone was obviously much better prepared then we were, she obviously is involved in these situations on a daily basis. She was more like an attorney than just some clerical person that was representing GM. Although the GM rep was allowed to participate via telephone, we were required to drive 2-1/2 hours from our home. I felt like we were on trial during the entire mediation.

I don't know a lot about auto mechanics, but I would thing that there is some type of electrical problem with this car. GM's response to all the electronic parts going bad is "We fixed that", which is great, but did you fix whatever has caused all these parts to go bad in less than a year of being new?

I have been a Chevy person my whole life but I will never again purchase ANY GM product. Their lack of admission to an apparent problem really disappointed me. Ford may have their problems, but at least they can admit them & do something about it.

GM, you suck!!!!!!!
