GM-DeGM-Delco Leaking Battery Scam and Rip Off Anchorage Alaska
I purchased a brand new GMC Jimmy in January of 1999. In February of 2001 the vehicle would not start and had to be jumped everytime till I could get it to the dealer. It was found to be leaking at the terminal and was replaced under the vehicle warranty.
In July 2003 the exact same problem happened and again the battery was leaking at the terminal. This time I was told the vehicle extended warranty did not cover the battery. The battery warranty also was invalid because my vehicle warranty purchased the battery and not me. When I contacted Delco they confirmed it and refused to do anything about the battery and that I should contact GM. When I contacted GM they refused to do anything but tell me to contact Delco. So basically I got the run around from both.
I had to purchase a new battery (and not a Delco) so the vehicle was operational. From my understanding these batteries have been leaking since 1993. If so then why did the dealer and GM use the same battery? Did they expect me to bring the vehicle in every two years and purchase another battery?
