We lost our home located at (((REDACTED))), Falkville, AL 35622 to GMAC Mortgage back in 2003.

Why did we wait so long about filing a report?  Well we kept thinking the federal government would step in and extend the investigation of foreclosure procedures to include our time frame.  Also we were in shock about how things happened and didn't know how to go about it or if it would even do any good.

We lost friends, our family shamed us, people talked about us in public....just like we had committed a bad crime.  We could have chosen to do something bad such as sell drugs to pay for it but we fought a battle just like a captain trying to save his sinking ship.

What I want to complain about is the tactics that GMAC used to try to collect from us.  My wife had over $31,000 in profit sharing from WalMart that she had rolled over into an IRA.  I made the mistake of telling one of the collection agents about the IRA.  He proceeded to call me numerous times a day, threatening to sue if we didn't cash the IRA in and catch up the payments.

We received about a hundred phone calls about cashing in the IRA.  Finally after all the threats and hateful phone calls we caved to the pressure.  Our last safety net had been taken from us.

After the IRA had been paid against the mortgage they told us that we were not caught up and that foreclosure proceedings would continue.  Even after foreclosure proceedings started the phone calls continued.

Over all I would say that during the year or so that GMAC Mortgage started harassing us we received several hundred phone calls.  Some days we would receive as many as 10 a day.

We would like to have the $31,000 plus interest returned to us.  The total amount of the loan was $155,000.
