I brought in my car which was worth $3000. Wrote a check for $5000. I am not rich, matter of fact, I am in poverty. That was a bonus from my employer and my income tax return. I had a balance of 1200 or so. After driving the car, which was a 2007 Mazda 3 with less than 70k miles for about a month, the check engine light came on. Called Ahmed who assured me that the car likely just needed a starter. I brought the car back in. They repaired the starter, I picked the car up only for the light to come back on a few days later. But not only was the light on, the engine was making a noise. The engine had thrown a rod. He attempted to tell me it was a result of me failing to get an oil change, thing is, if he had just changed the oil, then it was definately a non issue as it pertained to oil, oil life is 3000-5000 miles. I hadn't drove the car but only 3500 miles. Anyway, when the engine finally tapped out a month or two later, I returned to the lot. After some calsulations he came to me with $1000 written on a sticky note, as to what my credit was. I ended up getting a 2001 Honda Civic with 196k miles on it. It idles badly. I feel cheated. I could have kept my money & 2005 Saturn Ion which had a new computer, new transmission and good engine. Now I am out of my money and a reliable car as this Honda doesn't seem that it will last the fives years I was anticipating, when I bought the Mazda.
