I went in a week ago to trade in my car (which had some problems with it) for something else and get financed to cover the remainder of my car loan on the new one. At first beucase I was on my way to work and decided to stop really quick (cuase I'd been dealerhopping that day) just to see if they could get my started on something. So I stop, they let me test drive a dodge stratus that was within my price range. They get some of the paperwork together and "sell" me the car and tell me to come back when I time the next day to fill out the remaining paperwork. So when I returned the next day, the salesman said that the bank denied the deal on that car and we could try another one. I was already peaved about that and then while we did some test drives he was trying to hook me into loving a certain vehicle.

When we returned he asked which car I liked best and I told him I liked the one he already sold me and how mad it made me that the bank was not notified the previeous day. I even asked how much would I need to keep that car and he said $5,000. How insane is that?! Anyway, they get me set up on a ford fusion instead and I even signed all the proper paperwork and left them with my old car. This was also after waiting for an hour or 2 after the had to tear the ignition apart to fix it so the key came out every time (as well as asking the salesman if what he was doing was entirely legal). I drove for about a week in the ford before I realuzed that they never gave me the temporary registration or the emmisions voucher.

I called to pick them up and neither the finance guy I spoke to or my salesman where there that day conviniantly...I went back to the dealership to retreive them and scehdule an appointment to get the windsheild replaced (it had a crack in it and they wrote it into the contract) after handing it to me, one of the rude finance guys (who goes by Dino) tells me that the bank also denied the 2nd car too. I explained that the car was already mine ands got up to walk out and he followed me out of the office asking me where I was going in "his" car. I held up my paperwork saying that it was in fact in my name and I was leaving. When he still wouldn't let me leave, I told him that I wanted my car back with the plates put back on and in the same condition or else I was calling the cops (which I should've). He came back after what seemed like forever and said that my car was on the wholesale lot and they could get it back the next morning.

The next morning rolls around and I call to see if it was in fact at the dealership and the same guy said that he'd have to see if a certain person was in cuase he hadn'tr heard from them and would call me back, which he didn't (like any othe time I tried to get a hold of him). So I called back hours later and now he said it woyld be delivered in the afternoon and the runner never said when it would arrive. So after numerous attempts to check on when my car would arrive, the guy said "if it's more conviniant for you, why don't you take the car again tonight and come back in the morning?" So I did just that and the following day he was very quiet and didn't say much as well as he was being very civial for once. Never ever go here, the service really sucks!!

Natiowide Scam!

This is a scam that has been going on at auto dealerships all around the country for years!  I had a friend who got caught up in it more than 15 years ago.

He found a Mazda Miata he liked at the local Mazda dealer.  He took his car and negotiated a trade with financing arrainged by the dealer.  He drove the Mazda around for several days when the dealer informed him the financing had been declined and he had to return the Miata or he would be driving a stolen car!

When he returned it, his trade-in was GONE and could not be retrieved.  He was left without any transportation at all!

I've head of this going on all across the country!  Consumer reporter, Clark Emerson has reported on it as well on his syndicated radio show.
