I was asked by a colleague to help transfer a website to a different hosting company. In doing so, I contacted Goldfish Network to ask some simple questions about this process.

In two conversations I had with one staff member in particular, I found them to be extremely unpleasant, rude and unprofessional. I have no idea why they would behave that way toward me, as I had never met or had any dealings with the company prior to being asked to help with the web site transfer.

I contacted the company a total of three times over a period of three weeks. No call lasted more than a couple of minutes. In all cases I asked simple questions in a professional manner. In two cases the person I was talking to abruptly hung up on me. Later, this same person sought to discredit my intelligence to a business colleague. These actions were completely unprovoked by me.

An email message to my client suggested that I was incompetent, an absurd and damaging remark. Their contact with me had been extremely limited. They had no basis to make such a defamatory claim, especially not to a client of mine. With no justification that I could imagine, they tried to discredit me personally, and to damage my relationship with someone I do business with.

Here at GoldfishNetwork.com, we have a stellar reputation and a whole lot of happy clients around the nation.

I'm responding to this because my wife was initially hurt that someone would lie about us and try to hurt us like this guy.

Unfortunately, this particular person is a bit confused, aggressive (and vindictive apparently).

When this gentleman contacted us I thought it was a prank of some sort because he knew so little about this type of work.

He didn't know what he was asking or how to ask it.

When I finally deduced that he was trying to help a client switch hosting, I helped him and his client and gave him the information he needed (more than once) by phone and email.

His feelings must be hurt big time because he's been a minor but irritating presence since. We're hoping he stops and thinks about what he's doing and then moves on with his life. He's making himself (and his client) look bad.

The Better Business Bureau looked at his claims and apologized to me for initially posting his complaint. Apparently, the people there have a lot of experience recognizing cranks for what they are.

To anyone reading this:
As you probably realize (especially as a business owner) once in a while your good deeds get you punished and there's some guy who wants trouble. We all just try to move on and continue serving clients the best way we can.

I would strongly advise anger control management for this person (and something to keep him busy). Seriously.

This guy is just trying to slander my company. He filed a complaint at the BBB and it was declined.

The "staff member" he is referring to is me, the owner.

He lied about who he represented and his "simple questions" were answered numerous times. It is not my responsibility to continue to provide these simple answers for a person that is not a client.

BTW- He didn't even use his real name in the complaint. His name is David Boe.

Too much time on his hands apparently.
