Golen Promotions ripoff Nationwide
On Nov 7th I received a letter and a check, for $4,500.00 I was told that I just won $1500.000 and that the check was to be cashed and the money mailed back to a claims agent in Ontario, Canada to cover the taxes,insurance and legal fees, I took the check to a Smke Shoke Shop where I had cashed my checks before the next day, and sent the money, by moneygram, on Nov 12th the manager called me to tell me the check wasn't any good, but before he cashed that check I had called the Bank who's name was on the check and since the Bank did exist I thought the check was real.
While in the store the manager tried to call the Bank to verify the check but there was no answer even though it was only 2:00 in the afternoon, so he went to his computer and since the address and the phone number came up, he cashed the check. I was served with an order to appear in small claims court, and an judgement was entered for me to pay the money back, even though I explained to the judge that I am unemployed, have no poperty or anything that I could give to pay the debt, I offered to pay $25.00 a month but the Plaintiff said that was a joke and demanded $500.00 the judge said I would have to do better than $25 I said the highest I could try to go would be $100.00 the Plaintiff still wasn't happy. I understand the anger $4,500.00 was a lot of money to get hit for but I did not intend for that to happen, and I honestly do not have the resourses to pay it back at this time most scams will just ask you to send the money to recover your winings and you get nothing this scam sends a check in hopes you can cash it and send them the money, and you still get nothing, but trouble from the court.
