Complaint Review: Golookup

I used the 1 month trial to do a background check on a new employee that I knew was a bad apple. Golookup didn't give me any usefull information. I just wanted some info on his mile long rap-sheet. They let me know everywhere he ever lived though. So I cancelled the service over the phone. 6 months later my my wife did an audit on our account. Then I found golookup had been charging me the whole time. The agent told me that I cannot cancell the account online and that it has to be done by phone. She then said "you might have tried to cancel it online so that's why it didn't work". OK wait a minute....I cancelled by phone the first time...and if it's not possible to cancel online,,,then why is she telling me, the acount was not cancelled because I did it online??? My mistake the first time was that I didn't record the conversation or keep the conformation number. By the way....it's totally legal to record a conversation as long as you tell them you are recording.I recommend Tape a call pro if you dodn't have it. There's a lot of good apps for recording phone calls on your cell. They were way more cooperative when I told them i was recording the call. Also told them I was going to report them to the California Consumer Fraud Division if they failed to cancel. Get a recording app for your phone. We live in bad times, we ALL need it nowdays.
