Good Ol Boys / Transatlas Lee nelson,Transatlas, Levant,Two small men Lost,Damaged, Late delivery of goods very unprofessional cambridge Ontario
I found this company online through a quick search and few good reviews and decided to use them anfter a few calls, The first person I talked to was Jamie he was polite and very informative and seemed legit.
I recived a online/phone call estimate and was told someone would come and give me an in home quote which never happened. My move date was 3 months away and told them I would arrange a pick up date and delivery date when I knew where exactly I was moving too.
Few weeks went by and I recived a phone call asking if they could come pick up my stuff 2 months early I said no and that I needed a pick up date closer to the end of Nov as I could not live with out all my belongings.
These peole knew I needed delivery date of first week of Dec and a pick up date of close to the end of Nov, Finally a pick up date was arranged and was told that the deliver date of the 2nd should be ok and to tell the drivers my delivery date and that it would be noted on their end as well.
I was never once told about insurance, I was never told there was a second company involved which happened to be Transatlas. I was just told a name which was Levant, I assumed he was part of Good Ol Boys Moving in the qubec area.
My stuff was finally picked up the last week of Nov and loaded onto a small truck The movers did not talk to me much basically asked what was going etc and started to tag and wrap items. I was very pleased at this point. I was later ask to sign a sheet that had a list of all my items etc and a list of numbers beside them saying the conditon they were in on pickup. " which I only learned later what the numbers were for, after my move"
I was not given a invoice of my cost or estimate etc.
I finally arrived in Nova Soctia and at my new place on Dec 1st my belongins were supposed to arrive on the 2nd as what I was lead to belive before, Not once was I ever told that it coulnt be done or that I would have neded a earlier pickup date etc to ahve been deliverd on Dec 2nd.
Dec 2nd arrive and I wait and wait and call and call no one answers finally I am told that it wont be arriving today and not told a firm date on when it will arrive.
Dec 3rd finally told that my stuff will arrive in 10 days and thats pretty much the extent to the email.
I send in several emails asking for clarification on the 10 days and was told nothing 14 days go buy and my stuff is still not delivered and hardly any conatct is made and any that is made was recived and very rudily rplied to saying I am slandering him and his company and that he is not repsonsible for anyhting as it is Transatlas who is doing the movv.
Lee Nelson keep stryignt o infor me that he is doing the best he can to hurry them up etc and still does not take any blame for anyhting, I hired Good Ol Boys not transatlas, Trans atlas was contracted to move my stuff through Lee Nelson, Lee should have kept me up to date about everything going on and been more clear and busniess like.
I am told that my shipment was 1200 pounds over the estimated weight because I had 56+ boxes over what was in the pgone etimate a few days before the stuff is to be dropped off, This is after I had been living in a hotel and ordering food for 2 weeks because my stuff did not arrive on the 2nd.
I was told I had to pay the extra amount because of weight etc I tried to arge as I know that the weight could not have been that much as 90% of the boxes conatied light items that were fragile and protected with newspaper and only weighed 2/3lbs max each
I found it odd that if I multipled, the number of extra boxes by 20( 20 being 20lbs pe box ) it was almost exactly the amount I was over weight.
I Requestd to see the papers showing the weigh in etc and never recided anyhting, when I askedabout a re-weigh I was told it was my responibility to find one and that if it did weigh the same or over I was going to be charged the extra weight as well as for them having to go out of their way to re-weigh my shipment.
so I opted to just forget and take my delivery on the upcoming sat.
Saturday arrives and I wait all day as they had a large delivery during the day in halifax, Finally the movers arrive and some conversdation isuses about the money owed etc I pay 1500 and they start unloading my stuff we get down to the last of everything and my reclining chair is missing and they prmise to deliver it on Dec 28th
It is now Jan 3rd and with many many attempots to try and conatct Lee and Transatlas no one responds to my emails or calls I am missing my relcining chair valued at 1200 my samsung 46" smart Tv was damaged and looks horrible and is unwatchable now my couch was soiled and smells funny my coffee table center leg was broken none of my stuff was put back together.
I still have not gotten a proper recipt of payment when requesting one I still have not recived documents showing they weighed my belongings I have not recived my damage claim form or anyhting.
Not one person contucted themselves as professionals like I would have hoped for no one was informative at all after doing research on many things I found many things common to what to watch out for for scamming companies.
Lee Nelson trys to avoid and unclaim responsibilty by saying its a different company that did the move but I have yet to even recive some sort of statment from Transatlast saying I paid them and the shipment arrived the only paper I have is my list of items which has no company name on it and a etimate form from Good Ol Boys in an email.
Lee contracted this company so he should be responsible and conducted himself properly and business like and informed me of everything or been a proper business man and handled everything himself and made sure a proper job was done and went well so he does not get bad reviews.
I would also like to mention that the jamie poersonthat gave me my estimate was also no longer an employee of good ol boys about a month after I called and got my estimate so everything was very confusing to me. No effort was ever made to assure me things were going smoothly.
