Received bill from Good Samaritan Hospital in October 2007 for $3,237.70. Phoned their billing department in Atlanta, GA 800-307-7631 in Nov 2007 and set up a $70.00 a month repayment program. Made that $70.00 payment on 12/2/07, 1/19/07, 2/16/07, 2/29/07,& on 4/1/07.

I have received statements from them showing .00 amount owed as I have paid before the due date.

NCO sent me a letter dated 4/21/08 stating they were a collection agency and that my balance was due in full. I phoned them and communicated that I had made my payments as agreed and even before the due date and I was told I had missed a January payment. As you can see from my accounting report that payment was paid and that check has cleared my bank.

I was also told by their supervisor, Jeff Heinle, tht even if I continued making the payments as agreed that this account would be reported to the credit bureaus as a "Collection Agency Collection Attempt".

Can it be legal for a company to report an errorenous action to the credit reporting agencies?

I have requested a copy of the conversation that I had with Jeff Heinle and left a message with Teresa at NCO today. She said he would call me back when he returned from lunch. As of this time, I have not heard from him.

A check for the payment amount that he offered me, which by the way was a $500 discount, is on the way to them Certified, Return Receipt Requested.

As fantastic as this hospital was to me and beleive me, "they saved my life" as I had an anerursym and they were able to coil it. I will always be forever greatful to the doctors and nurses of that hospital. They are absolutely fantastic. Just so sad that they have allowed such people as NCO to attack and try to destroy the image they have. I truly hope they look at this and find a better way to deal with their patients. Especially those of us that pay on time, and have no intentions of cheating them out of a dime.

Respectfully submited,

Too bad you can't deal directly with the hospital.

As you'll soon discover from reading other posts here, NCO is not known to be much of a good samaritan. You may even discover that whatever $ money you send them - you'll get the same sort "We'll call you right back after lunch" service. Or, maybe they just take month long lunches.
