hello . i wish to see if there are any other people who have donated valueable items to goodwill  in oldsmar or st petersburg only to find there donations did not make it to the salesfloor. i  have read several websites and reports claiming that goodwill employees are either stealing donations, MARKING ITEMS AS "DAMAGED" AND THEN SENDING THEM TO A PLACE CALLED "THE PLANT" or are allowed to purchase them themselves at ridiculously low prices. i personally have witnessed goodwill employees unloading the  bins of new items and say "oh , i want this. and IMMEDIATELY  take it out of the hamper and bring it into the back room. has anyone else ever seen or experienced anything like this at a goodwill or supergoodwill ?

What difference does it make?

I personally don't think an employee should take things for themselves.  I am glad to learn that Goodwill does have policies regarding that issue.  However, the items are being donated so someone else can get use out of an unwanted item.  I used to work at a shoe store and when new things came in we were able to keep items in the back room to purchase rather than on the sales floor.  We could only hold things for a few days before it was put on the sales floor.  Perhaps Goodwill has a similar policy.  I don't know.

hi, thank you for investigating my report.  i strongly suggest you you keep a close eye on your supergoodwills in oldsmar and st pete 34th street north . i also suggest that you continually transfer / rotate the managers of your stores to other goodwill locations. once  managers ( and workers)  become too comfortable in a store many times  they begin thinking that they can start taking liberties , getting away with things and behaving in an extremely unprofessional behavior. ps. i tried to revise the previous posting but could not .

Goodwill takes stewardship of donations very seriously.

Your comments have been sent to local and regional Goodwill management for investigation. We take the stewardship of donations very seriously, since they are essential to the operation of our services to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Be assured that Goodwill has zero tolerance for employee theft or misuse of donated items. Employees know that setting aside donations before they reach the sales floor is absolutely prohibited, resulting in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Goodwill has many checks and balances to prevent mishandling of donations, including video surveillance. Some of the things you have mentioned witnessing are very likely a misinterpretation of our normal procedures; however, if you can provide date, time of day and location of suspicious behavior, we will review video tapes to determine if prohibited activity has taken place.

Please send any further details to gw.marketing@goodwill-suncoast.com.

Thank you for shopping at Goodwill, and for your concern.
