I received a call from a man with a strong Indian or Pakistani accent who identified himself as "Ethan Collins," sales representative number 0845. He told me that I had been awarded $8,000 through a government grant and all I needed to do to claim the money was pay a fee of $257 by bank transfer. He then asked for the name of my bank and the account number. I immediately recognized this as a scam and refused to disclose any information. He bacame upset when I accused him of trying to steal money from me. He assured me that he could not take any money from my account without authorization. I then told him that if her were so sure, then he could give me his bank account number. He said that his bank was Bank of America and the account number was 5238168741. I told him that with such a thick accent, there was no way his name could be Ethan Collins and that the bank account number was probably bogus too.

If there are any good hackers reading this, you might check this number to see if it is valid. Eventually "Ethan" got tired of my run-around and hung up. Before he got off the phone, I told him he would hear from me again. I tracked down a phone number and called back and got "Trina," who told me that Ethan's phone did not accept incoming calls. I sympathize with people who fall for this kind of crap, so I will spend every free minute I have trying to cause trouble for these people.
