This morning I received a call from a Michelle Jones (with a strong accent). She began her conversation by saying that I had been "selected" to receive a government grant for a minimum of $8,000 and that I could get more depending on what I used the money for up to $25,000. This sounded very interested so I decided to let her keep talking.

She said that 10,000 to 20,000 people each year were selected to receive these government grant. She asked me if I was over 18 years old and if I sent in a tax return to the IRS last year. She told me that they would be sending me a packet in the mail with all of the information I needed in it. She gave me the companies address and the hours of operation. Then she told me that she was going to transfer me to someone else to give me a customer service # for my region and a customer ID#. Before she did that she said that they were going to need a one time processing fee of $257 to be paid anytime between December 19th and December 29th.

I asked her what they needed the $257 for and she said it was for all of the paperwork that had to be processed. I in turn told her, "if this is a grant then I should not have to pay any money. I am not interested. Thank you." Then I hung up.
