Government Grant Processing Center ripoff Nationwide
I recieved a phone call on my cell phone yesterday that was from a blocked number no ID. The person on the other end sounded like he was from india or pakistan or fiji like.
He identified him self as "Danny Turner" from the government grant processing center, ID# 0749. He knew my phone number, home address and a few other things so I thought he was on the up and up.
He claimed that I had been selected to recieve a government grant of $8,500.00 to use in any way that i wanted, and that I would not have to pay it back.
He told me that all I had to do is give him a post dated check over the phone for $257.00 for processing the legal paperwork they would send me in a few days. They told me that the check would be held for 10 days from the date of verification, and if i agreed, I would be transfered to the verification department.
Any how, I agreed, and was transfered to the verification department (Which sounded like he was sitting next to the first guy I was talking to). Then my battery on my cell phone died.
He called me back 6 hours later and we went through the same routine. and my battery died again. this time when I started asking him questions on why I was paying 257.00. The verifier stated that it was for a book on how to get government grants!
After thinking about this call, I am puting a stop payment on the check.
