Government Grants Association ripoff Fraud tried to get my bank info social security number and mother's maiden name Clearwater Florida
I received a call a few hours ago from a guy who claimed he was from the Government Grants association, he had an indian accent and he said his name was Max Vaz. Max Vaz!?!? are you f*cking kidding me!? A guy with that accent has a name like that!? Anyway, he said that I was eligible for a $5000. Then he asked if I was over 18 and had a checking account. I said yes to both, then he asks me for information like the last 4 digits of my social security number and my mother's maiden name, both which I gave (stupid me!!).
Then when he asked for my bank account number and the name of my bank, I told him that he better send me sonething first before I this kind of information. I was very apprehensive, so then he goes on to stress that they were legit, he said so much stuff which was obviously bullsh*t.
Anyway, I told him to call me back tomorrow after I check them out. Now that I found this website, I am going to give him "all" of my information he wants. If he asks my middle name, which he didnt know, I'll say that it's fookkooo,he wont understand then I'll spell it out for him as F...U...C...K...Y...*...* so he could read it instead of me saying it to him.
If he keeps asking me information, I'll just keep doin the same thing. I look forward to his call tomorrow at 5pm.
Anyway, If anyone are wondering how these people get their initial (very accurate information about you), I have a pretty good guess of how they got mine. You know those adds you get on your email saying that you won this and that and then you fill out the info they ask for. I did one of those and gave them my middle name and my cellphone number (not my home), which I never use for filling out stuff I am absolutely sure is legit. My middle name is the name those people had, and they called me on my cellphone.
I got a call also around 8 months ago from someone with a heavy eastern european accent (couldnt tell excactly what country). This is a totally separate story so to cut the story short, she wanted my banking info also and she knew my middle name and called me on my cellphone but she didnt know my home phone. After 5 minutes of talking, I got irritated with her so I told her that I did not have any bank account of any sort, and at that moment she lost all interest in talking to me. Only now I realized that someone was trying to con me. Phew!!

If you are such a high standing, legitimate company why would you try to get somebody's bank account and social security number on the telephone?

The way a truly legitimate company would work is:
1) find a prospect, 2) put all the information on the web or mail to the person 3) then if the person is interested they can then give you the information.
Plus, what about the people who aren't eligible for a grant? They've just wasted their money on you. Why can't people look up their own grant information - this is not hard? Why not just sign a contract with the person saying you will take x% of the grant when they get it? Ooops, that wouldn't work would it because most people are not eligible for a grant. Oh-no, the cat is out of the bag.
TO EVERYBODY: NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. Give your bank account and/or social security number to a telemarkter or a email 'phishing' like some of these.
