GPD Still no sign of returned deposit or completed apartment, 2 years after contract deadline Internet
I am reassured to see other people expressing concern over GPD Investments for apartments in Dubai.
Having invested a similar deposit to others I now find myself 2 years after the contractual deadline to hand over an apartment (with a guaranteed rental and furniture package) left with nothing (plus none of the 0.5% per month deposit pay-back, which was the contractual contingency for not completing the apartment by the deadline).
Before investing, I read a lot about Dubai and how strict it was on the law and what was right and how people living and operating in Dubai were expected to adhere to strict rules. I am therefore surprised and disappointed of the fact that a "contract" appears to have meant nothing (I have not heard or had any correspondence from GPD for 2 years).
Seeing other investors echoing my concerns and frustrations is reassuring however seeing their determination to recover their money is even more encouraging.
It would be nice to think that the laws in Dubai would have ways to step-in otherwise they run the risk of damaging a reputation they worked hard to build up.
When I watch TV programmes about how people have bad experiences and they always say "I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I've been through" I always dismiss that as clich. However I would say to anyone planning on investing with GPD to seriously think because in my experience a "signed contract" appears to have meant nothing.
Now would be a good time for GPD to put things right and make good of a bad situation and I do hope that the comments on this web site help with that.
