I got a phonecall from Tina Roper from "Grand Growne Network" saying I had entered an online contest and she wanted to verify my information. She said I had won one of 3 prizes: 1 Ford Explorer (which I could cash in for $25,000), a 27" tv or a vacation on Carnival or Royal Caribbean. She gave me a confirmation #, wanted to ensure that my husband AND I could attend and said the presentation & drawing would be about 90 minutes long. I said he couldn't attend so she said I should just say I'm single (though I told her I didn't meet the earning requirements on my own).
She said it was not a time share and I didn't have to join or sign anything.

All I had to bring was my driver's license (photo ID) and my credit card or checkbook. ?? That didn't make sense to me at all - I asked if I could bring my voter registration card to show my legal address and she said...I needed a checkbook or CC (no address there folks!)

She said if my scratch off card (which they would provide when I got there) indicated I won the Ford Explorer I would be responsible for the sales tax but if I took the cash instead I'd pay taxes at the end of the year.

Anyhow - Thanks to The Ripoff Report I confirmed my suspicions (too good to be true) and will be a no show.
