Grand Prix Performance, Unimpressed and inconvenienced. They don't voluntarily back up products without an arguing first. Costa Mesa, CA California
Grand Prix Performance sold me a set of 4 Mercedes chrome wheels with 4 Michelin tires for $1900 total. Actuallu 'pushed' me into the wheel selection. Seriously, one minute I was asking to see what choices there were, the next minute they were mounting the tires and rims on the car. They happened to be good looking wheels though. But Jerry didn't 'ask' me if I liked them. This is just the beginning.
Two of the four tires had slow leaks and needed me to put air back in about once a week or they would go flat. Finally, took the car back to them. No punctures could be found on those 2 tires.
So, they put the tires in a water tank. Sure enough there was air leaking from the inside of the rim where the tire meets the wheel. The 'chrome' inside the wheel was loosening at the leak points and that's what is causing the slow leaks.
The owner, Jerry, who sold me the set of 4 tires and wheels personally, tells me he would fix the other 2 but that 'he didn't owe it to me' to fix them. Jerry lost me as a customer with that comment. I would not allow them to touch my car again, pass. I feel totally victimized be them as a consumer.
In other words, there was no voluntary effort on his part to fix this problem. There was no "I'm sorry this has happened", nothing.
Another employee told me it happens all the time with chrome wheels. I've owned about 20 cars and this 'never' has happened.
They all were gruff and not forthcoming with assistance. They all acted as though they were the ones that were inconvenienced, not me.
I'm now waiting for the other 2 wheels to begin leaking. I am very unimpressed with the way they handled this obvious, basic issue: tires and wheels that hold air ! What a concept.
Be very careful what you buy there.
