This all started on November 4th when I received a call from William Reeves at Grand Vie.

He stated that the reason for the call is that my mother needed more care and the rate had to go from $2,690 a month to $5,250 a month. I was shocked and asked what was wrong that she needed to justify that much of an increase. His response was ‘well you’re not here to see but she requires more time from the staff’. I brought up that she had just gone through a medication change and maybe it was something to do with that. I also brought up this thing with a camera they had an issue with, that I had installed because 'she got robbed in her room' (which was removed) and he said it has nothing to do with that. He went on to say again she needs more care and that’s pretty much all it has to do with it. When I asked what if I don’t agree with this, his response was then she will have to move.

I thought about it that night and decided to probe further the next morning. What I got was a lame email from a nurse named Monica that looks like it took her 2 minutes to type and this is what they based this huge increase on. I decided not to argue and sent over the new agreement he made me sign.

Over the next few weeks and after numerous conversations with some experts about what had happened, pretty much the synopsis of what I was told was that what they pulled was illegal and I/she should have been provided the nurses (complete) notes along with her medication administration records to justify the change.

On 12/7 after who knows how many ignored phone calls I decided to start emailing Mr. Reeves to get the information. He responded with emails saying it fell off the radar and he thought there was a fee for the records and continues stalling…Obviously a tactic to run up the bill.

I finally got through to him on the phone on the 16th and after listening to more stonewalling I made the decision on the 18th to move my mother to another facility and notified him of such.

After further stonewalling over the records as it turns out my mother did not need any additional care. I did receive a note from her nurse at Grand Vie trying to justify it but I did not believe her or was it enough for the increase. Further I had her examined by her own doctor for over 25 years and he concluded the same thing.

I then had he moved to another facility on 1/20/14 and there has also been no mention of any additional care required there either

This whole thing was a scam to extort additional monies from my mother and also try to take advantage of me also because I could not observe these tactics by being 2,300 miles away.

I have documented this file with 71 pages of contracts and emails as well.

All in my humble opinion of course.

Thank you
