A woman with a Jamaican-type accent called my cell phone on Tuesday and told me because of my income I was eligible for a $6,000 Federal grant. She sounded excited and was pleasant at first.

She told me I just had to "confirm" some information they already had on me, and once I got close to receiving the grant, they would have to take a $298 processing fee out of my bank account.

I asked her if I could have her phone number so I could confirm if this was a legitimate operation. She said "Why do you need my phone number, I am talking to you right now?" When pressed, she continued to refuse to give me her number. I also asked for an address or a website or anything I could use to verify the validity of her operation, and she would change the subject.

She kept asking me why I did not want to claim my $6,000. I told her I was concerned that she was not a legitimate operation. She told me they were legitimate, and were highly secure, and that my account information would not be used for any illegitimate purposes, only to deposit the $6,000 and withdraw the $298.

Eventually I just told her I was not interested and hung up. I believe she has tried to contact me a few times since then, because when I talked to her, my caller ID showed the number +001819, and that number has tried to call a few times since I talked to her. They never leave a message.
