Basically, I saw an ad on Myspace advertising "Help with Government Grants", to get all this money that everyone is supposedly getting. I'm going through rough times, and decided it was worth a look. Checked the site out, and for a 1.99 fee, I would have a CD-Rom sent to me with information, along with instant access to their online database. Okay, sounds good so far. So I entered my information, and checked out the database. Poorly organized to say the least, but I can look past that, no one's perfect. Didn't really see anything I wanted, so I figured "Okay, I'm out 2 bucks, no big thing". Earlier...well yesterday now (It's 8:22AM local time as I type), I found out there was a charge for 94.89 from a company simply titled "Grant" with a state code of "MU"...which those of us with a basic geography knowledge know does not exist. So I called the number listed on the site, to find out that they opened at 7AM, Monday-Friday. Being extremely upset, I waited (this occured at approximately 2AM). I have tried for approximately an hour and a half now to contact someone, and am still receiving the message "Our offices are closed. Please call back between 7AM and 4PM Monday through Friday." So much for their guarantee listed on the site, which states "If you are not 100% satisfied with the information I'm giving you both in the kit and on the members only website, simply contact my customer service department, and I will refund your payment... no questions, no hassle!" As of now (it's been almost 2 weeks) I have not received any kit. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC, and am continuing my attempts to contact this "company".

I unfornately fell victim to this 'Grants For You Now' scam.

1. I was interested in learning more about grant writing and acquiring funding.
2. 12/14 I applied over this site and received confirmation email from support@grantmemberservices.com. I agreed to $1.99 only in monthly charge.
3. 12/23 Recieved 1 charge for $94.89, and another charge for $49.50 with charges listed by GrantsforyouToday (866) 481-8977 and one other name.
4. We called and explained we did not apply for their extended or extra services supposedly generating these charges but they claimed we did. (I distinctly remember not signing up for these services, only the service for $1.99/per month).
5. We learned from the customer service at Grants For You Today that their company is differnet than the one we signed up under, and charges are non-refundable, but we can cancel.
6. We've emailed several times, received no response by email.
7. Called several times, waited up to 30 minutes, only received one answer, since. The were not cooperative, and seemed confrontational, not willing to let us explain our problem.

***SOLUTION:. Anyone who signs up for this program must cancel immediately!! Cancel the debit card you used to submit the order, becasue they will continue charging it. This is a scam.***

Update

Update as of 12:15PM...I've managed to talk to two representatives at the office, who were surprisingly helpful. I also received an email from a supervisor who has thus far refunded HALF of the total cost. The representative (not the supervisor in the email) said the other half would be refunded upon the end of the term. I said this would not be acceptable, and would need the entire amount reversed (thereby taking 24 hours per my bank, not the 3-5 days that a credit would) today. I was told that I would receive a call from the supervisor before 1PM, so we'll see what happens.
