Apparently the employees think it is required to shout for personal information such as phone number, last name, address, first name, when a customer walks in. Taken aback, I complied with phone number and last name, but told the employee I don't give out my address.

I had no idea the employee would take offense and refuse to give me the haircut I requested. I noticed she slammed the scissors down twice and spun me in the chair when she had to leave to answer the phone.

After the second time I told her I was sorry she's having a bad day. Then she blurted out,"You had an attitude when you came in by refusing to give information". I told her it wasn't necessary to give an autobiography to get a haircut, and I don't feel obligated to help with their marketing.

She then refused to point the top layer of my hair and argued about how many ways there were to give a haircut. Three times I told her I would like the ends pointed and she argued and refused. Then she pulled the cape off and told me she was done.

Does management know personal info is not required to get a haircut? I suggest everyone use false names, and addresses and phone numbers.

The reasoning behind the "autobiography." (which, admittedly, I thought was ridiculous at first)

When I began working for G.C.'s, I was of the opinion that asking clients for all this information was ridiculous, at best. However, I've been with the company for some time now, and must admit it is useful to both the staff, and the client. Personal information is NEVER given out or sold.

We keep "technical notes" in each client's record. A successful G.C.'s has thousands upon thousands of clients in it's data base. Often times, several families with the same last name, same phone #'s (w/different areacodes-we don't ask for area codes), etc.. The street name is the thing that stands out when trying to locate the client in our system. A client MUST be in the system to be served, so if we can't "find" you, we must start at square one and create your file.

This benefits all. People go to Great Clips for two reasons: 1) Convenience (no appt./ quick service) ... 2) Cheap, cheap, cheap!

Well, we can only do "cheap" by doing many heads in minimal time. Not rocket science. Our tech notes, in your file, save so much time. We have immediate notification of your preferences, needs, cowlicks, growth patterns, problem areas, etc..

Basically, in the interest of serving you in the most timely and accurate fashion, your complete "profile" is necessary in our quest to maintain precise, and distinguished, records for our clients.
