***Read This - It could save you hundreds of dollars*** This company stinks. Chances are, what motivated you to join Great Expecations was the questionnaire you received in the mail. One of the questions (buried somewhere in the middle) concerned your income level. GE uses this information to qualify you as a sales lead and set your price!!! Knowing that many of us - especially men - think that members of the opposite sex are impressed with a high income, we tend to exaggerate this figure. DON'T DO IT! Always, always, always *under-declare* what you make. Your membership fee will be lower. Your income information won't even be made available to your potential dates.

Your first meeting with the sales person will be very high pressure. They will sell you on the program, you'll be excited to join, then hit you with an outrageous fee ($4,000 per year or higher). Realize that GE's overhead is extremely low - consisting of binders, copy machines and computer servers. They will make a profit from you no matter how low your fees are.

They will then tell you that the offer is good that day only, and if you come back later, they won't be able to offer it. B*llsh*t!!! Do you really think they're going to turn away money from anyone?

Here's the reality: Guys should be able to join for about $800 per year. (Younger women have an incredible amount of bargaining power with them and are usually charged less - a practice prohibited by law, but they do it anyway.) Offer them that amount. If they laugh in your face, walk away. They'll call you back to re-negotiate. Stand your ground until you get the price you want. Don't let them throw in "extras" to get you to pay their price - they're worthless any way. Hold out for your fee.

This technique worked for me. I even ended up meeting my beautiful wife through the service.

If you can't reach an agreement with them, join another service. There are plenty more out there that are just as good and cost less. Good luck.

I am not equating my love for my wife with what I paid GE, by any stretch of the imagination. I posted the information because I was stupid enough to be *taken advantage of*, and I don't want it to happen to anyone else. Dishonesty and duplicity is wrong, no matter how you look at it - regardless of the outcome.

I would highly recommend GE to anyone. All I'm saying is be careful when you deal with the Los Angeles office because some of their salespeople behaved in an unscrupulous manner. That's the only justification for my comments I need to give.

And Michael, let me clue YOU in. Quality women may not like guys who are cheap and pathetic, but they really hate guys that let others take advantage of and walk all over them.

Peace, out.

Cheap shots

It's interested to see how Michael, on his defense of the company, wrote about the character of the accuser and not about the accusations.
He believe that if you got what you were looking for then you don't have the right to complaint about how, in the process, were you tacked advantage of.
I guess that, since the accusations are true, he can't do anything else but to try to give cheap shots at the accuser.

I am so confused! You met your WIFE through GE....now you are saying they are a bunch of rip-off people. You got exactly what you wanted and now you say it is a scam. What is the deal? Are you equating money to love? Is your wife not worth your investment or what? Sounds like you want someting for nothing. Would it make you happy for them to give you your money back? Look at it like this....if you joined a health club to lose weight but never did anything to help you, you never utilized the weights, the running track, the bikes.....nothing!

Would the health club be liable for your fat a*s? NO!!!! But you got married, you found the woman you never would have if it wasn't for GE, and you still have the brass to kick them. God! Is your wife not worth it? Why would you b***h about anything if you found your soulmate.....you are so blessed, as many members are I find it so d**n profound that anyone would complain when they marry.

Not knowing you, but I can see why you needed a dating service in the first place. Let me clue you in....cool chics don't like guys who are cheap and pathetic. You are cheap and pathetic....no offense, but you are, and that is why you joined in the first place.

To Michael from Mobile, AL:

Yes, that particular GE office does charge a lower fee for younger women. They don't admit it, or make it public (they know it's illegal) but *they do it on the sly.* I know this for a fact because on nearly every date arranged through the service, the subject of how much we paid would inevitably arise - and the women's fees were always about one-third of what the guys pay.

No Overhead? there are many very satisfied and successful members

Have you ever had a business? Do you know anything about business? Did they have a plush office in a safe part of town that you felt comfortable in? Did they have phones? Did they have employees? Did the employees have benefits? Did they have a postage machine? Did they have a copier? Muzak? Furniture? Do you believe they have liability insurance? Do you know how much it costs to host member events? Do you have any idea at all how much it costs for direct mail? Why do they spend so much on direct mail, telemarketers, Internet leads? It is because they are trying to drive more members in so that the next one in could possibly be another member's husband or wife. No, great Expectations DOES NOT charge different fees for different incomes, regardless of what you think and no, women do not get any better prices than men.

Yes, there are dissatisfied members that you'll always hear from, but there are many very satisfied and successful members that have received a huge return on their investment. Of all people, you should be singing praises about G.E., not writing letters of complaint. They have thrown you a life-line from your troubled waters and you wanted a yacht to pick you up.
