Receipt # G-112816 which involved cash transactions on 9/7/06 for u.s news & world report, $ 60.00, disney adv$ 112.00, Super Street $ 44.00, plus Process and Handling of $ 13.00 (nonrefundable), total paid in cash $159.00, given to Michael Miller, sales representative.

Representative kept pushing for cash transaction as he would receive more reward points to win vacation. Receipt clearing indicates cash payment of $ 159.00
Receipt uses the name of Gemini Subscriptions, Inc., same address as Great Lakes Circulation, Inc. Mailed cancelation notice same day of transaction. Company responded by postcard demending proof of payment by check before any refund could be made. This can never occur as tranaction order Invoice clearly states that this was a cash transaction.I have proof of my checking account statement for period of 8/11/06 thru 9/13/06, and there is no check paid to any organizations. This company is using this as a tactic to cancel request that was made witin 3 business days.

Believe me, I wish I had paid them in check, cause I would have stopped payment. I called the number provided on invoice G-112816 866-675-9869 and received voice mail stating that the office would be closed until Tues 9/19/06 with business hours of 9-5pm, and asked to call back. I left message on voice mail that they had made a mistake and needed to look at the order very closely and they would see it was a cash payment. The person whom took the order provided me 2 receipts and I returned one to prove cancelllation. If a check was used for payment you should be able to provide me with the check number, as it would be in the company's possession not mine. I attest that the following facts are true and valid based upon my recollection and written proof of the transaction in question. I may be reached at 910-867-2183, which was also on the recept and all the company had to do was call me if they relly wanted to handle this tranaction in an honest manner. As far as I am concerned, this is nothing more than a major scam to consumers and I plan to contact the Attorney general's Office in Colorado to pursue further legal action, as this needs to be stopped immediately.

For all of you who had wished that you had paid Great Lake Circulation by check instead of cash, don't. I had paid by check and then had a stop pay put on the check they then made their own electronic check with a different (higher) amount on it and it went through. I then had to go down and close my checking account that i have had for 20 years. Good life lesson. They are dirty rotten dogs. When I called them and told them that they had a check written for more than I had authorized they stated that was for a service charge. So i paid for a stop pay on that check and Great Lakes charged me a service charge for a check that I had wanted stopped. By the way never got the magazines and when I asked about them they stated that if i didn't have my receipt number then no magazines were coming to me even though they had my money. Eventually my bank did make it right and credited my account as unauthorized and hopefully they will bug Great Lakes for the money back. Oh and Great Lakes said that they were going to send me to collections for magazines that were never received. The nerve of this company. I hope they shut this place down.
