After being referred to Great Northern Auto Parts by a parts locator service, they told me that yes, they had my part in stock. They charged my credit card and took my FedEx account number to ship to me overnight. I never got it. After a few days of leaving messages I happened to have the phone answered, and the owner, Rick Bond, told me he'd have "one of the girls' call me back with my tracking number.

That was the last I ever heard from him, despite numerous messages and emails.

I contacted the police in Liverpool, and a Detective told me that he was very familiar with Mr Bond, he gets calls about his "business" all the time. GNAP has no parts department or wharehouse at all - the address at 8304 Falcon is purely residential. All he does is tell every potential customer that he has the part in stock, and takes their money. Then he tries to find a junkyard that will sell it to him for less than he chrged the customer, and has them ship directly to the buyer.

If he can't find the part and make a profit, he does nothing and eventually the buyer files for a credit card refund. Where buyers use a check, the police detective says he has been able to pressure Bond into mailing a refund in the past - so if you were scammed by him and didnt use a card you can make a claim on, call the Liverpool PD and ask for the Clay detectives.

I guess GetUsedParts.com doesn't want it's site visitors knowing that they're going to have their contact information passed on to a crook so he can steal from them.

Just a quick update to this story. Great Northern Auto Parts contacted me to offer to sell me the part (which of course they never had available to sell) after I submitted a parts search request through a website called www.getusedparts.com

When I realised I was being ripped off, I went to GetUsedParts.com to let them know. I found that the site includes a member forum where users can post questions and comments. There were two seperate threads concerning Great Northern Auto Parts, with a large number of posters complaining that they've been ripped off. I contacted the site operator and told them that they were providing this scam artist with new victims even though their own forum contained so many complaints about him, and they basically 'blew me off' with a comment that they 'don't get involved' and that they're 'just like a search engine'.

Not only that, but when I went back to the member forum, the thread full of complaints about Great Northerb had been removed - I guess GetUsedParts.com doesn't want it's site visitors knowing that they're going to have their contact information passed on to a crook so he can steal from them.
