I was sent a "gift card" for a service I provided. The card "must be activated" at www,greendot.com. It is impossible to complete the activation so the card is worthless. The activation page demands my SSN, which they have no right to. The form reloads with a checkbox that I declines SSN and the card will not be reloadable. Fine. However this kills the session so I am in an endless loop, and cannot activate the card. The phone is no good because it also demands my SSN, and hangs up on me if I don't give it. B*stards!

We apologize for your experience.  We have done our best to communicate our requirements for registering a Green Dot Prepaid card on our website and packaging. The Green Dot Personalized Card is a prepaid Visa or debit MasterCard Card that you can use anywhere debit MasterCard or Visa debit cards are accepted worldwide. It's a prepaid debit card and unlike gift cards, when registered, Green Dot prepaid cards are personalized with your name, allow you to make ATM withdrawals in addition to making purchases, and can be reloaded with money. Due to these features, federal law requires us to obtain, verify and record information that identifies customers before they register a new card. We use security measures that comply with federal law to protect any personal information submitted to register a card. We understand this may not be the right product for you, but if you would like to learn more about our cards or features you may visit our website at www.mygreendotcard.com.

The same exact thing happened to me. I bought a $327.00 card for online purchases which i was required to activate the card at www.greendot.com however its impossible to activate the card because this company is requesting personal info like ssn, full name, dob, and mailing address. I only wanted this card for a one-time purchase but its frank that these people have an agenda. I declined given my personal info b checking the box but then the section ended...I called the customer service # like a hundred times but the automated system is asking for personal info and if u dont give it or even put in unrecognizable digits he will hang up on u...I can't believe that Walgreens have the nerve to sell these fraudlent cards...Now its claiming that I have to wait 7-10 business to receive a refund check....I am enrage and hurt more importantly I just lost my bill money...This is an illegal act and I am going to help keep others from this terrifying experience.

Finally, I tricked the systems by pressing the button of a lost and stolen card; I then was connected to a phillipine guy and not to mentioned it sound like they were  running a circus in the background. Explained what was going on which he then asked for my card # and other personal info. I advised him I didnt provide it to there website and I am not giving it to him. Then he told me he found out ehat was going on, he said "seems to be that you have requested a refund" I said " a what!?" Why would I do that. Went back to Walgreens and the incompetent Manager tried to call the # for about 20 mins. then gave me my card and receipt and said I can't help you. You can imagine how angry I gotn especially after I just left the store approximately 30 mins ago from the purchase. SCAM>>>SCAMS and MORE SCAMS
