Green Dot/ CVS ripped off, scammed, bamboozled. Deer Park New York, Internet
Be very aware if you find yourself in need of a prepaid debit card. I bought a card at CVS in Deer Park, put $40 into it at the register. When i got home I realized the card had no money on it. I went back to CVS and was told that they do not handle refunds on prepaid debit cards, that I would have to file a complaint with greendot directly. In all, it will cost me much more than forty dollars worth of my time to get this straightened out, if I ever do get my money back. I will obviously never again resort to buying a GreenDot prepaid card, and hold CVS partly responsible because they are the ones who failed somehow to credit my card and would not refund the money. If you have any questions about this rip-off feel free to email me.

ive had this problem many times at my old store. we have signs clearly stating CVS has nothing to do with problems with any of the gift, prepaid, or cell phone cards, we just activate them. did you read your recipt at the end? did it say it was activated? if not, there was a problem with the card. if your card was not credited the 40 dollars, the card may not have been activated right or at all, or the transaction didnt go through yet. you need to contact green dot with this problem.

Prepaid cards are the responsibility of the company that issues the card. You were told correctly to take your complaint to Greendot. The cashier activates your card at the register, if the card does not activate, it holds up the transaction. if it is forced through, you can clearly see on your reciept whether it activated or not. A little diligence on your part would have helped, this is the ONLY situation in which a CVS employee will refund a pre-paid card. If your trouble is with the Greendot product, then your complaint is with Greendot.
