I purchased a Greendot card on 3/31/2009 for $109.95. I activated the card on April 2nd and was told I would receive the card in 7-10 days with a balance of $80.05 but I would receive a rebate of $10.00. I was charged $19.95, $5.95 and $4.95 for some stupid reason of membership fees, maintenance fees, enrollment fees, or I guess whatever popped into their head for an excuse. Anyway, it is May 7th and I still have not received a card. I just called and spoke to a representative about not receiving the card. She looked up my information and told me my balance is now $70.10. I immediately got angry wanting to know why 10 more dollars had been deducted from a card I have never received, so I demanded a refund for the original amount. This is where she told me I was not the primary cardholder. They put my husband as the primary card holder but I only ordered a second card in his name. Anyway, he will call but after reading all of these complaints I imagine we will never receive any money from these people.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how I should proceed I welcome them. I have already had a Visa # stolen off the internet, that is why I purchased this card, so now I'm wondering if it is safe to even order off the internet period.

... to what is going on.  Why did you wait until May 7th to follow up?  That is over 30 days after activation.  I would have called after April 12th.

Also, if you had requested your card online it would have cost you nothing until you loaded it for the first time.  You could read all the details of the various fees associated with a Green Dot prepaid card on their website and then know when and why they being were charged, which is certainly not "whatever popped into their head for an excuse".

If you had confirmed/verified all the personal information when you opened the account you wouldn't be surprised later to find out you are not the primary card holder.  Consumers need to be more aware of all the details of financial transactions so they don't end up with situations similar to yours.

Better luck in the future!
