It all started out with a door-to-door salesman. The guy explained how there was work being done in the neighborhood and he wanted to set me up with an appointment regarding my windows and my roof (I never did get a referral). I agreed since it had been awhile since I had any door knockers come to my door(Penguin or Evans Glass came all the time, now out of business). So I cleared my schedule and waited.

I had a different salesman(Matt) come out that day and he gave me the typical presentation for 2 1/2 hours. He said he could guarantee I would save 30% on my energy bills. I should've been skeptical of the whole thing at this point because I saw on the TV screen that Penguin went out of business for guaranteeing energy savings to customers. Evans guaranteed the same thing when I had them out, too. I said no to the windows, but went ahead with the roof since the price was reasonable. I paid half down.

I was told the roof would take 1 to 1.5 weeks to get started. I got concerned when 2 weeks went by and nothing happened so I started calling. And calling and calling. No Response! Finally I got a call from Kieth the owner and said my roof would finally get started on the following Tuesday. Tuesday came and Tuesday went. I didn't have anyone show up so I called Kieth back. And called and called. On Wednesday, I got the product dropped off and I felt eased, but there it sat until Friday, when finally I got a call from Rick. Finally I was getting a new roof.

He came out and did the work in about 5 days. 5 days of poor, messy workmanship. They used some of the same flashing I had on the previous roof, trash all over the yards, nails on the deck. My neighbor told me one of them was smoking a cigarette on the roof, too. Thanks Guys.

I'm posting this now because I just received a Lien from Stoneway Roofing. I paid this company the back half of the amount a week ago. Apparently they don't pay their suppliers in a timely fashion.

So before posting this I checked around for comments and all I saw was the Yelp complaint about bad customer service. They have 2 complaints with the BBB, not too bad, but then I Googled the salesmans name. Matt Flath. My stomach turned when I saw the list of complaints. So it appears that this guy, now a business partner with Green Home Renovations, use to be the General Manager for Evans Glass! I feel so stupid now. For everyone reading this, google Evans Glass and google Matt Flath. All the bad things you hear about remodeling is instilled in this company.

Do not use this company, go elsewhere. This is just Evans Glass closed down and opened up under a different name.

I was considering working for Green Home Renovations until I googled the names
Matt Flath and Evans Glass.
Matt is a priciple partner in the creation Green Home Renovations Seattle, branching out from Portland.  Why doesn't the ownerer disclose this..?

Have you ever heard of step down pricing?
Start 10k higher than you should and see how much you can overcharge for your
product.  Evans Glass was shut down by the state AG.

Seattle, if you don't do your research, it's your fault if you get burned!!!!!

To even the most unsophisticated reader, it should be obvious that the Rip Off Report attack on Green Home Renovations comes from a competitor, a disgruntled ex-employee or just someone with no sense of honor. It is malicious in every way; it is unfair in every sense and it is patently untruthful.

Green Home Renovations has taken the old, tired, model of home improvement companies and made it new by offering ethical treatment in every aspect of our business and by offering customer service above every other consideration.

In addition, our high quality line of products feature the use of renewable building materials whenever possible and adherence to the SFI, the Sustainable Forest Initiative, to the maximum feasible extent. We are on the cutting edge in terms of "green" building and someone has taken it upon themselves to try and tarnish our good image and excellent character. Using the old legal adage, "the fruit from the poisoned tree" , I would caution any Rip Off reader to take this into consideration: if part of that report is false, then so is the rest. With that said, the writer of the report mentions a problem with Stoneway Roofing Supply and a supposed lien against us. The reality is that we have a letter from Stoneway, dated May 17th 2011 that states in regard to Green Home Renovations:

1.  They have an open line of credit with Stoneway

2.  That they have always paid their account on time.

3.That there have been no late payments since their account was established nearly a year and a half ago.

Every other remark in the Rip Off report is just as blatantly false. No matter the source, the report contains not an iota of truth when it comes to Green Home Renovations.

Customers should always be diligent when hiring any company to do home improvements, but using Rip Off Report as a guide is not the way to do it. What you really will find at Green Home Renovations is a company that strives to be perfect in every situation. Our representatives are courteous, respectful, low key and very knowledgeable about their products.
