My husband and I purchased a new 9 week old Beagle from the Green Valley Pet Center on April 4, 2002 for $481.55. A day and a half later she was vomiting, so we rushed her to the vet that the pet center recommended. The vet said that she just had a parasite and gave us some medicine.

The next day she was barely moving, vomiting and not eating or drinking, we rushed her again to the vet. The vet did not know what was wrong with her and told us to return her to the pet store. I asked what would happen to her and the vet said that she would probably die in a cage. I told the vet to do whatever they could to make her comfortable and well.

The vet informed me that the Pet Center would not cover all this treatment, and I told the vet to do what was necessary and we would cover the expenses. The next day the vet informed me that she had parvo and to put her asleep. Talking to a co-worker about my situation, they called their vet, which said that parvo is treatable. So my husband and I transferred our puppy to another vet for treatment.

After the new vet examined her, they found that she was in the advance stages of parvo, had kennel cough and another parasite. Her organs had turned to liquid, so I said my tearful goodbye and had her put to sleep. She was so contagious that we had to have her creminated, bleached our entire house and had to wait 1 to 2 months before getting another puppy.

Green Valley Pet Center told us that they don't have parvo in their store, which I find hard to believe. They also refuse to return our money, saying that we are only allowed the credit for another dog. First of all, I don't want a dog from them, which possibly could be sick and second, my husband and I returned to the store last month to talk to them.

While the owner was helping (unfortunately) lots of customers, we watched has a puppy started vomiting. I got so emotional that I had to leave the store. We did get a new puppy last week from a client of my work, who was trying to find good homes for her dog's litter.

I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, but haven't heard anything. For your information I did sign something upon buying our Beagle, but it was either sign and get a new puppy or don't sign and get nothing.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
