I had started purchasing the Greendot cards at local RiteAid and CVS stores to help protect me online about four months prior. Recently, I purchased one to buy some RAM online, only to be met with a "cannot activate, please call" screen online. So I gave a call to find out what the problem is, and low and behold, there is a $33.00 "hold" on my card. When I inquired about the hold, it was from "overdrawn charges". I asked what was overdrawn and was told that the monthly service fees were applied to cards that had no balance left.

They told me that I should have called up customer service to cancel the cards prior to having the fees taken out. I told them that this was not in their TOS and I would not have assumed that I would need to call. They told me, and I quote, "You should have assumed that you needed to call". I was told I could not get a refund or make a purchase, or even have someone else activate the card.

This is not proper for a business to do. After about 20 minutes on hold and disputing, I told them that I was willing to pay the $33 charge by credit card over the phone. They told me the only way to do so was by paying the charges with the credit loaded on the card, which I just paid $10 to load. Then there was another $10 activation fee they wanted me to pay on top of that. So pretty much they want me to pay them $10 to pay off their fees that I was never informed of!

They told me that the supervisor would call me back within 15 minutes... hour(s?) later, nothing! I am quite upset and am stuck here without a clue what to do.
