I was lied to and taken for a non existent rebate at a non existent web page for $10.00 by the GreenDot Corp. The prepaid debit card had been charged $19.99 for a premier package that I don't know yet if this is real or just a ripoff.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

As a former Green Dot employee this does not surprise me.

I can tell you that Premier is real and a lot of people like it. However, there was a time recently where the rebate program (amongst other things) was on the fritz. Some consumers got double rebates, or credits of charges they were supposed to incur. The system at Green Dot is not stable.

I would suggest first calling Green Dot directly, but good luck talking to a human. Also, because of the way the 'system' works it's difficult for the average call center operator to get anything done. It would take three months to learn how the 'system' works and the average tenure of a call center operator is just about three months, I think. So you can imagine the kind of help you might expect. Not to knock the operators, they really do want to help for the most part, but their hands are tied because of the nature of the software they are forced to use.

Secondly, I would definitely file a complaint with the BBB. The tend to respond to the BBB.
