Sent them my money in Jan 2001 ($6000) for a five-location greeting card distributorship. Repeated calls to them to find out where my cards and racks were were ignored.

Finally, the stuff arrived in MAY. Contacted the locator service (American Eagle) in Atlanta to have my stands located. Locator gave me five CRUMMY locations, none of which sold any cards and all of whom wanted my racks out within two weeks' time.

Found out that the locator had promised them the cards would sell like wildfire within seven days or they could get rid of the racks. I was never told this, and GCoA never mentioned this either.

American Eagle refused to honor the "warranty" on the placements, claiming I failed to follow to the letter the stipulations in their contract.

Contacted GCoA to get some assitance from them. They never attempted to help at all. I made more calls but none were returned.

I now have 5000 greeting cards and five display racks in my garage with nothing to do, and a loss of over $7000.

Rebuttal to Robert

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, January 28, 2003

Some things need to be clarified. Greeting Cards of America received the balance of Roberts funds on February 4, 2002.

His greeting cards were shipped out on 2/20/02 and his stands were shipped out on 3/4/02.

The locator never made a promise to the retailer that they could remove the racks within seven days if they were not satisfied with the sales. Robert, if you recall, you did receive a copy of American Eagle Placements contract before you invested.

If you did not make an effort to follow the terms of their contract, why should they honor it? It is after all why its called a contract.

When Robert called customer service at Greeting Cards of America, it was clearly explained to him that since he made the obligatory lackadaisical effort in following American Eagles contract, we could not force them to oblige.

You signed a purchase order/bill of sales that clearly states that payments are non-refundable. Greeting Cards of America will provide as much support as possible to our distributors, but we can only help those who will help themselves. Once a distributor comes on board, their account is then turned over to customer service, whose responsibility is to maintain the accounts. This was explained to Robert on numerous occasions. Everyone is told that it takes about 3-4 weeks to receive their merchandise once their cost for freight is received.

Greeting Cards of America received Robertss freight on 2/15/02. His cards were shipped out within 5 days and his stands within 2 weeks. Robert, American Eagle Placements would have assigned a locator to you sooner if your check to them did not bounce.

Since you were complaining about how long it took for them to locate you, as an alternative, you were provided with the option of establishing locations via telemarketing. Since you agreed to it, you should not complain. Once again Robert, the purpose of a contract is to set terms that both parties should abide by. If you can not abide by the terms of a contract, do yourself a favor, dont sign it. If you cant maintain your own checking account, what makes you think you can maintain a business? The only scam is the slanderous remarks you drivel on here and on your website.

Same old Drivel

#3Author of original report

Mon, January 20, 2003

After submitting my report, I read the other reports made against Greeting Cards of America. On each one, I found a nearly identical load of drivel from company owner Alex Carr. In each time, he said, "What (person's name) is feeling is buyer's remorse."

Gee Alex, YOU THINK?? Yeah I know you don't give refunds. I did know that going into this. What I DID expect and did not receive was ANY KIND OF SUPPORT.

Anybody else who dealt with these losers work beforehand with a guy named Michael Coleman? He was the very enthusiastic con-man that helped get me into this mess. Once GCoA had my money, I was turned over to some guy named David (I don't recall his last name) who has the personality of a tree stump. Never again was I able to reach Michael Coleman.

As the others have reported, it took WEEKS, and in my case MONTHS to get the cards and stands. Fortunately, most of my cards were in fairly good shape, but there were still those that were not. Still, as others also reported, the cards were of VERY poor quality.

Then there's the American Eagle Placements ripoff. When I contacted these bozos, particularly Forrest Adams, I was given more run-around. It took another two months before a locator was assigned to place my racks, and it wasn't even one that came into town as promised by GCoA. This was a kid who did it all by phone. Sure, he was nice, and he's probably the most honest person I've dealt with so far, but American Eagle Placements won't honor their placement warranty because my sales reports (all of which read ZERO SALES) didn't arrive as quickly as they wanted.

So yeah, Alex, there are a lot of really upset people out there, and I'm sure there are many more than have posted here. Eventually we will all come together and we WILL see the downfall of your scam.

Have a nice day!
