On a recent trip to see my family, my mother made me aware that my grandmother (who has early onset dementia) had been victim of a scam. Greg Campbell knocked on her door selling house painting! What’s amazing is he walked out with a $4k contract to paint her 3200 sq ft house! Greg took half a deposit and went right to the bank and cashed it. Greg was supposed to show back up to start work in the morning and never shoed up.
On a side note, my parents are general contractors and the job that was quoted for $4k should have been quoted at ~$2k. We tried to reach Greg Campbell of Medford OR several times but went right to voicemail. My grandmother is now out $2K in retirement monies and seems this isn't the first time this has happened.
The end result was that my family sat down and spoke with my grandmother and everyone agreed that any expenses over a certain dollar amount would go through her siblings. Thanks for ripping off an old lady.
