I own a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier. The air conditioner stopped working. I thought the best place to take it would be to the Chevrolet Dealer because they would have more knowledge about this particular vehicle. First visit to the dealer, they recharged the system and installed dye to detect leaks, and charged over $100.00. Approximately four to six weeks later the air conditioner didn't work. I took it back for a second visit and they told me the Compressor was leaking and I needed a new compressor and attachments.

This process cost me over $500.00. The new compressor and attachments were installed. Approximately four to six weeks later the air conditioner went out again. I took it back for a third visit. This time they told me that one of the air lines was leaking. This work was done and it cost me over $250.00. This last work was done on April 1st, 2005.

The air conditioner has gone out again as of today May 18, 2005. It appears that all three visits I have made, the air conditioning system was recharged, and only last long enough to leak out and stop cooling. And I apparently didn't need the previous work that was done because it didn't fix the problem. I refuse to go back to the dealer again and pay hundreds of dollars for something that should have been fixed already. I feel at this point my air conditioner should be fixed for free since I have spent around $1000.00 for nothing. If you could be of any help it would be greatly appreciated.
