I purchased a 5 year warranty plan from Bob's Discount Furniture for a sofa and chair I bought from them last April. The "service" provider was Guardsman.

I called to report a couple of tears in various parts of the sofa on Sept 14th this year. they sent me a form to complete and return which I did. I got a phone call from them today to go over a few details regarding the damages.

The Guardsman phone rep put me on hold while she submitted my request. She came back on the line to inform me that my request was refused for two reasons. One was that they considered a tear along the seam of a removable cushion as not their problem and suggested I go back to Bob's about it. The reason she gave for not providing service for the other issue was that, per their policy,  I only had 14 days after noticing the problem to file a request for service.  I had told her I noticed the problem after we moved about 6 weeks ago.  I explained to her that the problem may have been there for months since the furniture is in my kids playroom which I try to avoid. No good, she just quoted that a claim had to be filed within 14 days of noticing the problem no matter how long it might have been there.

I will never, ever do business with this company again.  I will never buy an extended warranty program for anything if Guardsman are the providers.
